Since it has no Brick and Mortar thread and I am actually going there this week to check it out, here is a Turning Stone thread.

The search function can be helpful. There are multiple turning stone threads.

Doesnt seem to be a generic thread like most of the other rooms have, this can help consolidate some info.

Down here now with jd. Pretty low limit poker room, small. Dealer tip box sitting in middle of final table is real tacky imo. They take out as well from entry fee. No chance of a 5/10 game midweek it seems. Had one 2/5 going and yesterday none for awhile. Majority of dealers are just really bad all around. Place isn’t bad though but poker room needs a lot of work imo

kazor, are there any limit tables going on in mid week and weekends? If yes, what are the stakes? How are the players? young, aggressive, or just simply fish?

I don’t play limit but yes some low limit stuff runs. I’ve just been here last few days. Its definitely different, games are real passive.

18 year olds play — Indian Casino. Wait until SU gets back in session, the aggro games will reappear.

Are the SU students that bad? I’ve seen some there but never played with them. I would have to guess they spew money tho right?

Durring the week this is the usual line up…

1 Table of 2-5 blind 500 max buy in NLHE (Can be rocky or spewey depending on the line up)
1 to 2 Tables of 1-2 Blind 2-4 LHE
4 to 5 tables of 1-2 Blind NLHE

I don’t get there much on the weekends, but this should be pretty accurate for the weekdays. There is no such thing as mid stakes limit in this room, only NLHE, or 2-4 LHE.

There used to be a 15-30 LHE game in the alcove table, but that died a couple of years back. Used to occasionally be 4-8 O8 and 4-8 LHE but that is long gone it seems. Of course there may be a little more on the weekends.

Sup Kazor,
I go to the Turning Stone every Friday. They normally open a 5/10nl or 20/40 limit game on Friday evening, and it’s very beatable. If I’m not mistaken, they never get enough interest in a game higher than 2/5 Monday-Thursday to be able to open it, unless it’s during a series. IMO the dealers are fine.

Hey Jeff,

Yeah its just a lot different then Im used to, some things I liked. I might head up there again if I play in the ESHC. Maybe we’ll get a 5/10 game going. Play was really really passive there fwiw.

all this talk about SU kids…don’t forget ITHACA college kids! I spent my young poker years growing up there so the place has sentimental value for me….other then that if you live in the NYC area it’s a waste of time. 15-30 has been dead for awhile, they used to have a big game on friday/saturday nights which was 10-25 NL but that hasn’t gone in forever…they have some 500 MAX, and 1000 MAX 2-5 and 5-5 games that go occasionally, those are the games you want to be in

yeah if you’re not playing in the Donkaments, you might as well clean what little fish up at the 200 max 1/2

Really?

Majority of dealers are just really bad all around.

Ask around see if players agree. I have had rave reviews of our dealers honestly. Now of course not everyone is a gonna be the greatest ever but for you to say the majority.

I will be working 13 out of 14 days hope to see all of you,

Michael

I am not 21 so I have not been to AC and Vegas. However, I have been to a lot of card rooms in Florida and compared to those rooms, the dealers at Turning Stone are very good. I think they are probably very good compared to dealers at AC and Vegas. They are very knowledgeable about the games. They are great about enforcing the rules and integrity of the game but at the same time allow common sense to rule. Charlie and Tony are very nice. Jay is a good guy who is always aware of what’s going on. Sarah helped me find transportation home when she cuold have just answered my question about a cab/ other transportation with a shrug. I always feel safe and comfortable playing at the poker room there.

Michael,

The day I posted that, the majority of the dealers I had WERE definitely awful and it was definitely being talked about at the tables by the players at the table. It might have been the day or just bad luck but I hadnt had a day full of dealers like that ever. That being said (and I said so in the other thread) the next couple days I had no issues or problems with any dealers except one who just seemed to be miserable in general. I am looking forward to the series.
